Dear valued member: |
Warmest greetings of this festive season from your bargaining committee and provincial executive.
We wanted to send out a bargaining update to keep our members informed. We just finished three days of bargaining with SAHO. The general tone of bargaining was more positive than past sessions have been, and we were able to reach agreement on some pieces of language.
We have now tabled all our non-monetary proposals, and the priorities that were identified by our membership are now all on the table. Discussions on these items will continue during our next bargaining dates on February 5, 6, and 7, 2025.
We have also been taking steps towards negotiating monetary items. On November 13, your bargaining committee and the other provider unions, SEIU-West and SGEU, met with SAHO to discuss moving forward to monetary items. We are expecting a written response from SAHO in the new year.
Until then, we will continue to push for a fair deal. We have sent a meeting request to Premier Scott Moe and the new Minister of Health, Jeremy Cockrill. We think reaching a fair deal needs to be a top priority for this government as our members have been without a contract for almost two years. Your continued support will ensure a strong and united front in the new year.
Best wishes for happiness in the New Year,
In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee: Bashir Jalloh (President), Linda Renkas (Vice-President), Nancy Black (Recording Secretary), Rhonda Osipoff (Treasurer), Linda Vancuren (R1), Sharon Paul (R2), Helen Head (R3), Arlene Picard (R4), Corinne Sopel (R5), Janice Janzen (staff), Justin Mercier (staff), Craig Thebaud (staff)
