As many members are aware, the Saskatchewan Health Authority has undertaken a review of security services using an external consultant. Many believe, with good reason, that his review will lead to recommendations to cut back unionized in-house security positions and contract out security work to a low-paying private firm. This will not improve safety in health care facilities.

Your Bargaining Committee will be back at the table this week. June 13 - 15. Remember to wear your CUPE gear!

On April 18th the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) issued a memo announcing a province-wide review of security services, using an external consultant named Tony Weeks.

As part of this review, the SHA has introduced an online survey that health care workers, and those in security services in particular, may wish to complete. The SHA security review survey is located at the following web address: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SecuritySurveySHA

We are expecting CUPE’s political division in the province, CUPE Saskatchewan, to release a statement expressing concerns about the security review very soon.
