Joint Update to IT Members – eHealth Transition

Joint Update to IT Members – eHealth Transition

We last updated you on January 21, 2021 regarding the status of the movement of IT staff to eHealth. At that time, we identified that we’d reviewed both the Provincial Auditor’s report and the Privacy Commissioner’s report about eHealth. Shortly after that, the full Board of Directors was replaced with a two person board made up of Ministry of Health officials.

With the Board of Directors being in disarray, we didn’t feel that there was the structure or support to ensure a stable and successful transition of our members to eHealth. We wrote to eHealth and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) postponing our meetings until such time as order was restored within eHealth. The response we received indicated that eHealth and SHA would reach out to us regarding next steps as soon as they were able to do so. To date, we have not heard anything from them about future meetings.

However, on Monday March 15, 2021 we received an email from Tyler Kannenberg, SHA Labour Relations, advising that eHealth had made arrangements with a contract company to provide assistance with IT set-up and support over the coming days and weeks in some of the immunization clinic/testing site locations across the Province. We understand that these services were going to be provided to the following locations: La Ronge, Meadow Lake, Nipawin, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, Kindersley, Swift Current, Weyburn, North Battleford, Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon. Please notify your Union if you are aware of this happening in your work site as this is contracting out of bargaining unit work.

SEIU-West, CUPE and SGEU respect that this is a very stressful time for many of you because of the number of unanswered questions and concerns related to this issue. We remain committed to ensuring that when this transition takes place, you will not lose rights or benefits; that you will continue to enjoy the protection of a collective agreement; and you will have access to appeals related to the IT job classifications.

Should you have any questions, please contact:

  • For SEIU-West, call the Member Resource Center (MRC) at 1-888-999-7348 ext. 2298
  • For CUPE 5430, call the Main office at 306-546-2185
  • For SGEU, call the office at 1-800-667-9355

We will continue to keep you informed as information come available.
